About the Author
The author comes from a well-travelled British family. Having lived in Russia, Iran, Iraq, India and South Africa they returned to London in the 1950's. The author therefore spent most of her childhood in Central and South London surrounded by a wide range of cultural, linguistic and religious influences. Due to her family's love of travel she can remember visiting most of Europe as a young child during holidays from school. On the other side of the family were artists such as Tom, Charles and W Heath Robinson. Their work can be viewed on sites such as bpib.com and Wikipedia. See also the Pinner Association website for their work with the Heath Robinson Trust in building a museum to house a collection of his art. It is hoped this will be open to the public in the summer of 2009.
While attending secondary school the author worked as a trainee for a local cable television company and soon afterwards studied at Exeter University where she gained a degree in English Literature and Theatre Arts with Film Studies, focusing mainly on experimental theatre and post-modern dance. Her spare time was spent at Exeter Film and Video Workshop where she took classes in filmmaking and animation.
After leaving university the author moved to Athens, Greece, where she taught English as a foreign language for the Greek government as well as working as an occasional writer for The Greek News and voice recording artist for children's books. More recently she has worked as a legal assistant and is currently doing a part-time law degree. She is a published poet and journalist and lives and works in East Sussex.
