Community Music for Health and Wellbeing

I am an active community musician and a member of the Musicians Union. I specialise in one to one and group sessions for people with disabilities, especially those who communicate non verbally or have challenging behaviour. I work closely with Inclusion East on improving my sessions so that the people who go to them have autonomy and control over what happens. I facilitate the Rhythm and Moves class on a Monday morning in Arbury which has been running since 2006 and also our annual weekend retreat with Peter on the Norfolk coast. I have an enhanced DBS and am awaiting training in Intensive Interaction.

Sessions involve seated relaxation, percussion and cello or viola playing and singing. Responses include relaxation, more engagement, improved social skills and vocalisation.

Participants and carers guardians are actively involved in the planning and development of these sessions.
