T'ai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung
These are "Internal Arts" rooted in the healing, meditational and martial traditions of China. They make use of relaxation, meditation, breathing and postural techniques to help the student develop balancing and harmonious movements.
Chi Kung
Is an umbrella term for a variety of exercises. It involves learning individual, or short sets of gentle meditative movements, for health and cultivating positive energy. The key difference between Chi Kung and T'ai Chi Chuan classes is that there is no work on a T'ai Chi form.
T'ai Chi Chuan
Can be translated as "Supreme Ultimate Fist". It is a martial art; the full system includes individual exercises, empty hand sequences, weapons forms and partner work. The emphasis is on harmonising the mind, body and internal energy, rather than just using muscular strength; so it can be practised by people of all abilities and ages. Potential students are very welcome and classes can be adapted according the student's specific needs.
